12 Days of Christmas: Favourite Christmas Songs

A lot of people are against Christmas songs thinking they are too cheesy and nothing is new, but I love them which isn’t surprising because I love all aspects of Christmas haha 🙂 So a little insight into my favourite Christmas songs is the blog post of today and I’ll leave a link to each song so you can listen to them if you want 🙂

1. All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carey – I love this song because firstly its another song I sing with my choir so it makes me super happy 🙂 Also I just like the challenge of singing it, Mariah Carey is a great singer and her range is amazing! So its super fun to sing, makes me happy 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXQViqx6GMY

2. Do they know its Christmas? by Band Aid – This song is not only good because it helped raise money for charity, but also because they brought together all these different artists to sing together. Its like that doctor who episode where all the characters from touch wood and Sarah Jane all got together and I was just sat there like yyyyyeeeeeessssss this is amazing!!!!! Well it was the same thing with this song hahaha Now I know that recently they have realised a newer version of the song for the fight against Ebola which I think is a great way again to raise money and to make the song current with all our new favourite artists. I love both versions and I’ll link them both here for you to listen to, see how many people you can name: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmj7KlIut1w&list=UUQbxjZwjeQrsnNa5Tf28ZdA

Newer version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w7jyVHocTk&index=3&list=UUQbxjZwjeQrsnNa5Tf28ZdA

3. Fast Food Song (Festive Version) by Fast Food Rockers – Now before you go ahead and judge me let me explain. I was feeling in a Christmas mood one morning and so on YouTube I typed “Christmas song playlist”. So I was sat there happily listening along to all the classic, when this came up. Now the Fast Food Rockers were a one hit wonder when I was younger and we all used to love their song, doing all the actions and it would be played at all the school disco. So when I heard the first note of this song I was like “hang on what the hell is this?” I literally died in that second, it was not only a realisation that it was the Fast Food Rockers but also the fact that they had realised a Christmas version of their already crappy song! It was hilarious, I was killing over, I was a mess, in tears on the floor just dying of laughter hahaha XD you have to listen to this! This will brighten your day in ways you never expected hahaha XD I think this song makes my life that little nit more complete hahaha XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12MNyD_P-H0

4. I wish it could be Christmas everyday by Wizard – This song makes me so happy because I agree! I do wish it could be Christmas everyday! This is one of those songs that when you hear it, you know Christmas is on its way 🙂 Its a great background track to have at any Christmas party and it makes me so happy 🙂 So yes I will sing and dance like an idiot to this song haha :-p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoxQ4Ul_DME

5. Last Christmas by Wham! – “LAST CHRISTMAS I GAVE YOU MY HEART! BUT THE VERY NEXT DAY YOU GAVE IT AWAY!” yyeeessss this song! Everyone knows the words, everyone likes to make their versions of it, everyone likes to act super emotional while singing it which is hilarious, and overall its a song that brings people together and that’s why I like it 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8gmARGvPlI

6. Merry Christmas Everyone by Shaken’ Stevens – this is one of those “bob your head to” songs haha one of those songs that you have on in the background while you are putting up your Christmas decorations, it just makes you instantly happy and jolly 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeyHl1tQeaQ

7. Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade – Another song to get you in the mood haha they are just nice to listen to and get you excited and in the Christmas spirit, and the chorus comes along and everyone is singing SO HERE IT IS, MERRY CHRISTMAS! EVERYBODY’S HAVING FUN! hahaha its great hahaha :-p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A8KT365wlA

8. Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney – Now it might just seem like I’m naming all the Christmas songs now but they al make me super happy and this is another one. I could listen to these songs happily all day long 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9BZDpni56Y

9. The Power of Love by Gabrielle Aplin – Made famous by the 2012 John Lewis Christmas advert, this song has become a Christmas favourite and rightfully so! It is so beautiful, Gabrielle has an amazing voice and by far is my favourite Christmas song to sing 🙂 it makes me feel so emotional and strong and its just simply amazing you have to listen to it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNpeK7sDLzE

And I’m going to stop there because literally I could go on forever hahaha XD there are loads more I have missed and if I haven’t mentioned your favourite Christmas time song, let me know what it is in the comments below 🙂 I hope you are all having a fabulous day and I’ll be back again tomorrow with another post 🙂

Now That’s What I Call Music! USA

I am a huge sucker for mainstream pop music and I think I always will be 🙂

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not oblivious to other genres of music. In fact, I love everything from rock to country, to classical and even comedy songs. Yet currently this compilation CD from Now Music has me listening to the same songs on repeat for hours! This CD wasn’t even released recently, it came out in 2013! I haven’t always been into music, but since my teenage years began its been a very important part of my life. Not only listening to songs and appreciating different artists, but I also sing and I am teaching myself the keyboard. I feel like all music will be appreciated by someone out there, whether we agree with them or not, so don’t judge my choices haha 😉 The songs that I’ve been enjoying in particular are:

  1. Locked Out Of Heaven by Bruno Mars – This song is so much fun to sing! I was in a choir for the past year and this is one of the songs that we sang, so it always brings back great memories every time I hear it 🙂
  2. I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas – Now when this song comes on, you know it’s time to party because you know that tonight really is gunna be a good night 😉
  3. Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell – You know, when this song first came out I wasn’t really a fan of it. However, good old Robin Thicke has converted me and now I know all the words.
  4. Payphone by Marron 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa – I loved this song as soon as it came out and then I listened to it so much, that I got a little sick of it, but now it’s back on my IPod and i’m loving Adam Levine’s voice 🙂
  5. Die Young by Ke$ha – LET ME EXPLAIN BEFORE YOU GO JUDGING ME BECAUSE IT’S KE$HA! First of all, as a vocalist myself I feel like I might make the song better, but overall this song is real fun and I can imagine myself dancing to this song at a party anytime.
  6. Ready Or Not by Bridgit Mendler – This is one of those songs where you start bobbing in your chair when you hear it 🙂 I didn’t actually know this song before hand, but i’m glad I do now.
  7. Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson – Anyone who knows me, knows that i’m a Kelly Clarkson fan and when this song came out, I felt really empowered by it and immediately had to learn the dance moves from the music video off course!
  8. Human by The Killers – This song has a beautiful build up to it which naturally makes me want to sing to it, with that thud of the base drum throughout keeping the timing of the song perfectly.
  9. Heart Attack by Demi Lovato – One of my favourite Disney Channel stars, Demi Lovato was rightly recognized with this song and her voice is so amazing with the amount of power she has!
  10. Apologize by OneRepublic – This song has a great piano piece attached to it and is definitely one i’d like to learn one day. The emotion through the song is really felt and I always take the meaningful lyrics to heart.
  11. Fireflies by Owl City – So much fun! I didn’t know this song when it came out, I knew of it, but I had never actually heard it and I didn’t know it was by Owl City! Love it 🙂
  12. Ho Hey by The Lumineers – Great song for everyone to join in with and really relays the feelings of family and togetherness 🙂

So theses are the songs I’ve been loving recently. All of them are so much fun to sing and make me super happy 🙂 If you have any songs you’ve been enjoying recently, feel free to leave a comment below 🙂
